UK GOVERNMENT REPORTEDLY DROPPING COMPULSORY DIGITAL ID

The UK government is reportedly dropping plans to make a digital ID scheme compulsory for workers.

It's yet another U-turn from a government on what the opposition Conservatives say was a 'terrible policy anyway'.

From 2029 there will be digital right to work checks, but registering for the digital ID programme will be optional.

Liberal Democrat MP Helen Morgan says she welcomes the climb-down.
