LABOUR ANGER OVER BURNHAM BLOCK

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing anger from some of his own MPs after blocking a potential leadership challenger from standing in an upcoming by-election.

Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham says he is "disappointed" he won't be the Labour Party's candidate in Gorton and Denton.

If he had been re-elected to Parliament, he could have launched a leadership bid against Keir Starmer.

Labour MP for Bolton West, Philip Brickell, says it was the right decision.
