The US vice-president is hosting talks on Wednesday between the US, Greenland and Denmark.
It comes after repeated suggestions from the US president that Washington should take control of Greenland, which is a self-governing Danish territory.
Ahead of the talks, Greenland's prime minister said his people would rather choose Denmark over the US if they had to make such a choice.
