Five major car makers defended themselves at England's High Court on Monday against allegations they deliberately used technology to cheat emissions tests.
In what's become known as "dieselgate," prosecutors claim illegal software was installed that would recognise when cars were under test conditions and modify their behaviour accordingly — something they deny.
