MELISSA MAKES LANDFALL ON CUBA

Hurricane Melissa has made landfall on the east coast of Cuba.

The Category-3 storm is battering the Caribbean island with wind speeds of up to 120 miles-an-hour.

It's already swept across Jamaica, causing flooding and destruction and leaving hundreds of thousands without power.

Jovan Johnson is a senior reporter at The Jamaica Gleaner - he says the extent of Melissa's impacts aren't clear yet.
