US heads towards govt shutdown

The US is barreling towards a government shutdown with little hope of
a last-minute agreement to beat the midnight deadline.

No deal was reached after congressional leaders met with President
Trump on Monday - and a Senate vote on Tuesday is expected to fail to
win enough support from Democrats.
