Fed meeting gets underway with Lisa Cook still in her job, Trump advisor added to board

The US Central Bank has kicked off what could be its most consequential meeting of the year - with a rate cut expected and drama on the board of governors.

An appeals court late Monday blocked President Trump from sacking Lisa Cook - who has denied allegations of mortgage fraud.

While early Tuesday - top White House advisor Stephen Miran was sworn in - raising questions about the Fed's independence.  Toni Waterman has more from Washington.
