The first migrants have been detained in the UK under the new 'one in/one out' deal agreed with France which came into effect this week.
The British Home Office says the migrants, who arrived by small boat to the country on Wednesday, have been placed in a removal centre and are set to be returned to France.
As part of the deal- the 'one out' detention activates the reciprocal 'one in' process for migrants in France to apply for entry into the UK subject to visa and security checks.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said the government is determined to end channel crossings.
