India's aviation regulator has ordered airlines to inspect the lock on the fuel control switches on Boeing 787 and Boeing 737 planes by next week.
The directive comes days after a preliminary report on last month's Air India crash found that the fuel switches were cutoff moments after takeoff.
Boeing and the US Federal Aviation Administration have said the fuel switch locks on Boeing planes are safe.
