Interim Syrian president visits Paris on first trip to Europe

The Syrian president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, is visiting Paris for his first trip to Europe.

He is meeting the French president for talks.

France says Emmanuel Macron will call for "first and foremost the stabilization of the region, particularly Lebanon, as well as the fight against terrorism."
