US layoffs worst since pandemic amid DOGE cuts

Layoffs of workers reached the third highest level in recent US
history last month, largely driven by the reduction in federal
employees.

The cost-cutting by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency
slashed around 216,000 jobs in March.
