WHO makes appeal for billions in aid for quake-hit Myanmar

The death toll from the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar has climbed to 1700, with hundreds still missing.

The World Health Organisation says the country needs $8 billion in emergency aid, with other agencies warning a humanitarian crisis is unfolding in the war-torn country.

In neighbouring Thailand, hopes of finding any survivors dim at the site of a collapsed under construction building in Bangkok.
