The United States Supreme Court is for the first ever weighing up whether states can ban transgender treatments for young people.
At issue in a hearing today is a Tennessee law barring minors from using puberty blockers and hormones, legislation that proponents say is designed to protect teenagers from the risks of "life-altering gender-transition procedures."
But America's Solicitor General argues it amounts to "sex discrimination."
