Pope reveals foiled assassination attempt in Iraq in excerpt from upcoming memoir

Pope Francis has revealed that an assassination attempt against him was foiled during a landmark visit to Iraq in 2021.

The pontiff sets out details of the plot in an excerpt from his upcoming autobiography published in Italian media.
