French Prime Minister Michel Barnier has offered his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron, who will later on Thursday make an address to the nation.
The Government collapsed after the Prime Minister used special powers to try to force through controversial legislation on next year's budget.
In response, opposition parties from across the political spectrum voted to remove him.
