SCHOLZ OPEN TO CONFIDENCE VOTE BEFORE CHRISTMAS AS SNAP ELECTION LOOMS

Expectations are building in Germany that the Chancellor could be
about to call for a confidence vote in his leadership, triggering snap
elections.

It follows the collapse of his three-party coalition government just
under a week ago.
