UN Chief calls for ceasefire following Lebanon escalation

United Nations chief António Guterres is calling for an immediate ceasefire following Israel's ground offensive in Lebanon on Tuesday.

The secretary general is "extremely concerned" with the escalation of the conflict, according to his spokesperson.

It comes as a senior White House official told media that the US has indications Iran is preparing to "imminently launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel".

Sally Patterson reports from New York, where the UN is headquartered.
