UK INFLATION IN SURPRISE FALL

UK inflation has fallen to an annual rate of 1.7, its lowest in over three years.

It raises expectations the Bank of England will cut interest rates further in November.

Fuel and air fare costs dropped significantly in the latest data - though there was a jump in grocery inflation.

Markets analyst David Buik says the numbers surprised investors.
