French government set to announce contentious budget

The French government will announce its 2025 budget on Thursday, and it is likely to contain tax rises and spending cuts.

The prime minister says he wants France's highest earners and wealthiest companies to pay more tax, and ministers will have to find billions of dollars in savings to try to bring the country's deficit in line with EU rules.

Ross Cullen reports.
