UK PM URGES BRITONS TO LEAVE LEBANON 'IMMEDIATELY'

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer says the Middle East is "on the brink" - and is urging British nationals in Lebanon to "leave immediately".

The UK's ramping up contingency plans ahead of a possible evacuation - with 700 extra British troops being sent to Cyprus as a precaution.

Tens of thousands of people have fled their homes in Lebanon as Israel continues attacks it says are aimed at removing the threat from Hezbollah against northern Israel.

Keir Starmer is in New York for the United Nations General Assembly and says he'll be discussing the situation with international leaders.
