Harris makes strong debate impression addressing economy and border concerns, while Trump defended his record on abortion and tarrifs

The major candidates competing to be the next U.S. president Donald Trump and Kamala Harris debated major policy issues including the economy, abortion and immigration on Thursday night.
Harris was challenged on her border record but responded: "I am the only one on this stage that has prosecuted criminals for trafficking guns, drugs and human beings".
Trump insisted he believes in exemptions for abortion including rape, and incest and to protect the health of the mother, despite taking credit for the overturning of the federal right to an abortion.
Caroline Malone has more on some of the night's takeaways.
