The Federal Reserve has indicated rate cuts are on the horizon, acknowledging on Friday that US inflation is continuing to cool.
Speaking at the Jackson Hole conference, chair Jerome Powell said 'the time has come for policy to adjust', but refused to give a timeline of when the cuts could come.
Markets responded positively to the comments, with all three major US indexes moving higher.
