EU plans to place 9% tariff on Teslas manufactured in China

The European Union is planning to place tariffs of 9 percent on Teslas brought into the bloc from China.

Brussels launched an investigation into electric vehicles manufactured in China last year.

Chinese brands such as BYD and Geely are also being targeted, with member states set to vote on final measures in the autumn.

Olof Gill, a spokesperson for the European Commission, says the ball is now in Beijing's court.
