EU elections: Split contest between left and right wing parties in Netherlands

Exit polls in the Netherlands project that left-wing parties narrowly
outperformed the far-right Freedom Party.

The Netherlands was the first country to head to the polls during the
European elections with voting across the bloc slated to finish on
Sunday.

Analysts have been predicting a strong performance from right-leaning
groups across the bloc.
