Senior Republican lawmakers in the United States have reacted with fury and defiance to Donald Trump's historic criminal conviction, the first ever handed down to a former or current US President.
A New York jury found the party's presumptive Presidential nominee — now a felon — guilty of attempting to influence the 2016 election by falsifying business records to cover up payments to a porn star in return for her silence about an affair.
But Trump allies on Capitol Hill, often vocal proponents of so-called "law-and-order," have slammed the verdict. Even his sceptics are weighing in with their support, as Benji Hyer reports from Washington.
