U.S. top court allows South Carolina to stick with election map despite racial implications


The Supreme Court of the U.S. has ruled that redrawn district election maps in the state of South Carolina are okay to use, even though a lower court had found it had diluted the power of Black voters.

The 6-3 majority opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito, said the maps were not done for racial gerrymandering.
