Senators in the United States Congress have — for the second time — voted down a bipartisan border bill, which would have made major changes to immigration law.
If passed, it'd provide the federal government with far-reaching powers to restrict unlawful entries and tighten asylum rules.
But it was once again opposed by Republican Party legislators, largely at the behest of former US President and 2024 candidate Donald Trump, who's urged lawmakers to kill the proposal.
