Residents of Kano State, in North West Nigeria have taken to the streets to protest the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the emir of Kano.
Sanusi, a former Central Bank Governor, was dethroned in 2020 over unlawful conduct and replaced by Aminu Ado Bayero.
But on Thursday, Kano state governor Abba Yusuf signed a law to reinstate Sanusi and also repealed four other emirates, resulting in outcry by many residents.
