LABOUR DISMISSES TAX CUTS IN UK BUDGET

The opposition Labour Party says many Britons will still be worse off after the government's budget announcements.

Finance minister Jeremy Hunt cut the national insurance rate paid by workers on Wednesday.

But Labour is accusing him of a 'scorched earth' budget statement which still sees the economy shouldering the highest tax burden in decades.

Economic Secretary to the Treasury - Bim Afolami - says struggling families will have been helped by the budget.
