India's GDP growth comes in at 8.4 per cent in election boost for Modi

India's economy grew at its fastest pace in a year and a half in the last three months of 2023, at 8.4 per cent on the year, according to official data.

Manufacturing and construction helped to drive this expansion, the figures show. This is seen as a boost for the Narendra Modi-led government ahead of upcoming elections.
