France calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza

France has called on the UN Security Council to immediately call for a
ceasefire in Gaza.
Speaking to reporters at the United Nations on Thursday, its
ambassador Nicolas de Riviere said that the council was
procrastinating and action needs to be taken.
The UN Security Council is meeting on Thursday behind closed doors to
discuss the situation in Gaza.
de Riviere says his country, a permanent member of the council, wants
to see an end to fighting.
