Nigeria Restarts Cash Transfers to Cushion Hardship Caused by Reforms

Nigeria has approved the immediate resumption of cash transfers to 12 million vulnerable households amid a cost-of-living crisis and calls by labour unions to cushion hardship caused by reforms.


The government had suspended the cash payments in January over allegations of funds mismanagement by the Head of the agency in charge of the program.
