India continues to experience fires in residential and commercial buildings that are all too frequent, with overpopulated slum areas being particularly vulnerable
The country's financial hub of Mumbai, which is heavily overcrowded, has suffered a series of fires recently. This has led to mounting pressure on state authorities from the Bombay High Court and residents for fire safety regulations to be more strictly enforced.
