Russian lawmakers have set the country's presidential election for March 17 next year. This clears way for Vladimir Putin, how hasn't yet officially began his campaign, to seek a 5th term. Kremlin critics say the vote will further cement Putin's autocratic rule, which led to the harrowing war with Ukraine and deepening conflict with the West.
