US prosecutors say they have filed 'murder-for-hire charges against an Indian national, for allegedly planning to kill a US citizen who is also a Sikh separatist leader living in New York.
The accused has been identified as 52-year-old Nikhil Gupta who was allegedly given directions by an unidentified Indian government employee to execute a foiled murder plot in May.
The US allegations echo those made by Canada a few months ago, after the killing of a different Sikh leader near Vancouver.
Neha Poonia has more on New Delhi's response.
