Israel's defence chief has admitted there were security failures in
the military response to Saturday's attack by Hamas.
His comments came as the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited
Israel, where he promised continued American support for the country.
However, there are growing concerns for the humanitarian situation in
Gaza, with the United Nations saying conditions are "dire", with food
and water running out.
Ross Cullen in Tel Aviv says the safety of the hostages is also
unknown, while the bombing of Gaza by Israel continues.
