India's Supreme Court, delivering its verdict on whether to allows same-sex marriage, said that this was a matter for parliament to decide on, and therefore it could not legalise such unions.
There had been high hopes that the verdict would be positive for the LGBTQ community after the Supreme Court scrapped a colonial-era ban on gay sex in 2018.
