Gaza death toll rises to 3,000, ahead of expected Israeli ground offensive

The Palestinian health ministry says the death toll in Gaza has risen
to 3,000 people.

It comes as at least 600,000 people have fled the northern part of the
Gaza Strip, making their way south.

It's putting an enormous strain on the ability to house and feed the
fleeing Palestinians, with thousands sleeping on the streets.

Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of Israeli troops are positioned on
the border of Gaza.
