France is set to begin withdrawing its troops from Niger this week.
The decision to end its counter terrorism operations in the West African region comes after a fall out with the military junta currently ruling the country after staging a coup in July.
There are fears that the insecurity in Niger and other Sahel regions could worsen after the French troops leave.
