Breakthrough on Capitol Hill -- US Congressman Mike Johnson has become the 56th Speaker of the House of Representatives after all Republican Party lawmakers in the lower chamber voted for him on Wednesday.
It brings to an end a weeks-long saga during which they struggled to coalesce around a single nominee, leaving the seat of power vacant and the heart of American democracy in a state of paralysis.
