Joe Biden will/has become the first sitting US president to join a picket line, turning up in Michigan on Tuesday to show solidarity with auto-workers on strike for the 12th day running.
Thousands of members of the United Auto Workers union are taking part in unprecedented industrial action against America's three biggest carmakers -- Ford, General Motors and Stellantis -- walking out from some of their plants across the country in an escalating dispute over pay.
Mr Biden's appearance comes a day before his potential election rival, former President Donald Trump, was expected to visit the state himself.
Benji Hyer reports.
