West Africa's regional bloc, ECOWAS, has rejected a proposal by Niger's military junta to hold elections within three years.
The Junta finally agreed to start mediation talks with ECOWAS after initially refusing to open diplomatic channels with ECOWAS delegations sent since the coup in July.
