Italy's Interior Ministry says migrant arrivals by sea have more than doubled so far in 2023, compared to the same period last year.
The new figures are a blow for Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who's put a lot of political capital this year into trying to cut arrival numbers.
