UK Supermarkets Criticised For Confusing Consumers

Supermarkets in the UK have been criticised for making it difficult for shoppers to find the best deals.

An investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority found some supermarkets were making it difficult for customers to compare products, especially when it came to multi packs and special offers.

They also found that when it came to products such as tea bags, some were being priced per unit and others were being priced by weight - making comparisons difficult.

The regulator has written to the big stores telling them to make changes, or action will be taken.

Justin King, the former boss of the supermarket chain Sainsbury's, says shops must support consumers:

Out: …on quickly too.
