France's Macron urges end to plastic pollution at global talks

Climate NGOs say every year, more plastic mounds are fished from city canals and islands of plastic accumulate in the world's oceans.

Scientists have now also detected particles of microplastics in remote environments, like the Antarctic.

In a bid to tackle plastic polluters in Paris, legislators are lobbying for internationally legally binding policies on plastic reduction.

On the ground, campaigners are encouraging everyone from homeowners to big businesses to commit to reducing their waste.
