The UK has set out new legislation which is designed to see migrants crossing to the country in small boats detained and then removed.
More than 45 000 people made the journey across the English Channel to the UK in 2022 and the government insists its new plan will tackle the issue.
Critics say the legislation is unworkable and potentially illegal.
