Russia's lower House of Parliament, the State Duma, plans to increase the potential punishment for those accused of "discrediting" the armed forces from 5 to 15 years.
While lawmakers say such "severe punishment" is required to protect Russian servicemen, human rights organisations say it's another way to punish those with opposition and anti-war views.
