Intro:
The Indian Space Research Organisation says the Himalayan
town of Joshimath has sunk by 5.4 centimeters in just 12 days.
The process known as subsidence has forced more than 4000 of
the city’s residents to relief camps as more than 600 buildings in the city
developed potentially fatal cracks.
