After India’s Joshimath, another town in the Himalayas is developing
potentially fatal cracks – raising concerns that it might also start sinking.
Authorities designated Joshimath a disaster-prone area this
week due to a process known as subsidence – or when unstable ground sinks due
to natural or made reasons.
