The US justice department has sent monitors to polling locations across 24 states to check compliance with electoral laws as Americans head to the polls in this year's midterm elections.
In North Carolina, sixteen incidents of alleged voter intimidation, harassment or interference of voters and election officials have been reported since the start of early in-person voting, according to the State Board of Elections.
